Public safety starts with the ability to protect yourself. If you’re a good guy with a gun, I will continue fighting for your right to keep your family safe. If you’re a bad guy with a gun, I will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law. I’ve been on the front line with Colorado sheriffs against horrible gun control legislation pushed by liberal democrats in Denver.

SECOND AMENDMENT CHAMPION

As the leader of a 2,850-member organization, I know success depends on all members of the team. For the District Attorney’s office, it starts with world-class lawyers in the courtroom. I’m dedicated to recruiting and retaining talented prosecutors. Along with proper training and empowerment to do the job, this will go far to enhance public safety in our community.

PUBLIC SAFETY ADVOCATE

SECOND AMENDMENT CHAMPION

PUBLIC SAFETY ADVOCATE

I've prosecuted insurgents in Iraq, criminals in Colorado and fought for strong public safety policies at the Colorado State Capitol. I understand the big picture and know the District Attorney's critical role in the effort to keep our community safe. It takes someone with a broad breadth and depth of experience to accomplish the task.

Message from mark

As a leader, citizen and father in the Pikes Peak region, I know first-hand that public safety takes all of us. It means prosecuting criminals in the courtroom, collaborating with law enforcement, and promoting public policy.

  • In my public service career, I’ve safeguarded your Second Amendment rights, whether it’s standing with Colorado sheriffs in 2013 to fight gun control legislation advocated by liberal democrats in Denver, or leading the fight with Sheriff Elder this year against the Red Flag bill.

  • As a former deputy district attorney and Judge Advocate General in the U.S. Air Force, I know the difference between hardened criminals and ordinary people who make mistakes. We will develop creative solutions to position people on the path to recovery so they can once again become productive members of society.

  • When I served as a Colorado legislator, I made sure prosecutors had an active role in shaping community safety policies. No district attorney should wait for Denver politicians to dictate policies that shape the ability to do the job well and meet the expectations of citizens.

  • It’s not fancy or headline-grabbing, but this position takes organizational and financial skills. As chair of the El Paso County Board of County Commissioners, I lead 2,800 employees, manage complex budgets and personnel issues, and provide employees the tools to serve our region. Because money matters, I keep taxpayer pocketbooks top of mind.

The District Attorney has a critical role in keeping our community safe. I have the breadth and depth of experience necessary to serve the citizens.
